You’ve Been Flocked
These poor flamingos look a little dreary on such a rainy day. This house in our local neighborhood has been “flocked” by a local group, raising funds.
One of the great things about small towns is that everyone works together to get needs met. Fundraisers support local groups in a major way. From dinners, to raffles, to dunk tanks and yes, even flamingos, the residents support their small town community through donations to fundraisers. Although this fundraiser does not get used a lot, it gets a lot of attention! Those bright pink flamingos sure stand out, especially on a dreary day.
One of the biggest fundraisers of the year is the fireman’s barbecue to help fund our local volunteer fireman. You can read more about that here.
A local group from the school hosts the flamingo fundraiser, raising money for an event for the kids. You can pay to have someone else’s yard “flocked”. Or, buying insurance is also an option you can choose to keep the lively characters out of your yard. It is a fun fundraise and successful for the group that is willing to host it. The catch is, you have to be willing to get out and move all those flamingos!

The Word
Romans 12: 4-5. For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: 5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.
